One of Property Specialists Inc.’s unique services that set us apart from our competitors is our commitment to the education of both our Staff and our Clients. To that end, PSI launched the successful Board Member Boot Camp series to strengthen the working relationship between our Clients and our Staff. Each no-cost session is geared towards establishing a better understanding of each person’s role in community management, exploring items such as the budget process, monthly financials, conducting a proper meeting, the roles of the Property Manager and Support Staff, basic parliamentary procedures and more. PSI’s Educational Director Kathryn Romanelli, conducts personalized sessions interacting with participants, allowing each person to ask questions and share ideas.
PSI’s Board Member Boot Camp series offers insight for Board Members ranging from rookies to seasoned veterans. In a recent survey of attendees, PSI has found that more than 90% left the sessions with a better understanding of community management, leading to a more successful relationship with PSI Staff.
While PSI is currently developing new classes, we are currently proud to offer:
- Session One: Welcome to the Board. An in depth discussion on the roles of the Board Members, Property Managers and Support Staff, with overviews on how to conduct a productive meeting, taking minutes and basic parliamentary procedures. This session should prepare any newbie, or refresh the veterans on the proper functions of the Board of Directors.
- Session Two: Accounting 101. Learn the importance of a Reserve Study, how to prepare a balanced budget and how to understand the ins and outs of your financial statements. After finishing this session you will be properly equipped to follow every nickel and dime used in operations and forward planning.
- Session Three: Legalities and Communications. This new session is designed to help you understand your Declaration and By-Laws, adopt and enforce rules, regulations and policies to greater a more peaceful community enjoyed by all residents. Learn all about the importance of delegating, how to form useful committees and how to identify potential future board members. Finally discover new ways to promote your Board's successes to your neighbors through successful communication tools.
